I am an artist/designer, and during my career I have balanced both disciplines and am clear about the distinctions: art has fewer rules!
Fine art is the capacity for thinking differently than most, seeing differently, and making connections and perceiving relationships others miss.
Design, on the other hand, is based on technical skill, psychology, human perception, and rules that can be broken by a highly skilled few.
I try to bring both disciplines together so that my work stays fresh and innovative.
I live outside Charlottesville, on a farm in Fluvanna county.
